Mathematics Teacher Training For Classes 3 to 5

Objective of the Training:

To enhance the pedagogical skills of mathematics teachers of Classes 3 to 5, aligning teaching practices with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and to promote activity-based and experiential learning in classrooms.

Training Agenda & Summary:

  1. Registration and Refreshment:
    The program began with the registration of participants, followed by refreshments. This time was used to familiarize participants with the environment and materials.
  2. Understanding NEP 2020 and How to Make the Teaching-Learning Process More Effective:
    A detailed presentation and discussion were held on the core principles of NEP 2020, particularly its emphasis on foundational literacy and numeracy, experiential learning, and teacher autonomy. Teachers were guided on integrating these aspects into daily classroom instruction.
  3. Pedagogical Practice: Activity-Based and Experiential Learning:
    This session focused on hands-on activities that can be implemented in mathematics classrooms. Teachers participated in model activities that promote conceptual understanding through real-life examples, manipulatives, and group work.
  4. Activity Plan for Teachers:
    Teachers collaboratively designed activity-based lesson plans. The plans emphasized student engagement, use of teaching-learning materials (TLMs), and assessment integration.
  5. Assessment for Learning :
    The importance of formative assessments was discussed. Participants learned how to design tools for continuous assessment and how to use assessment results to support individual student learning.
  6. Question and Answer + Feedback + Closing and Vote of Thanks:
    The final session addressed participants queries and collected feedback. Teachers filled a Google form for Feedback . Teachers shared their reflections and suggested follow-up support needs. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks to all facilitators and participants.

  • Teachers gained a clear understanding of NEP 2020 and its implications for classroom practice.
  • They learned to create engaging, student-centered math activities.
